Eligibility Requirements

Due to a limited annual quota of approximately 300 applicants, selection is highly competitive. 

Applicants must: 

  • Maintain approximately 50,000 EUR in liquid funds (varies by family size)  
  • Provide proof of permanent accommodation (owned or leased)  
  • Hold valid private health insurance  
  • Demonstrate German language proficiency (minimum A1 level)  

Additional requirements include: 

  • Submitting the application in person at an Austrian embassy or consulate  
  • Obtaining a special entry visa after approval  
  • Collecting the residency permit in Austria

Application Process

The process includes:

Residency Requirements

To maintain Austrian residency status, applicants are generally required to spend at least six months per year in Austria. 

After extended legal residency: 

  • Citizenship may be possible after 10 years  
  • In certain cases, eligibility may arise after 6 years
